Those of you who are long time readers of this blog may have noticed that my life has been a little crazy lately. Awhile back, I briefly mentioned that I had accomplished a couple of my 5-year plan goals and I couldn’t be more excited!

When I started college, my heart was always set on designing at a well-known design firm or advertising agency. Sure, I had jobs that I loved and others that I didn’t really love after college, but deep in my heart, I knew that working downtown was always a dream of mine.

Out of the blue this past December, one of those big design firms contacted me–they were looking for a freelancer to help them out with a project. Long story short, I went in for an interview on a Tuesday and was working there the very next day. This company is absolutely amazing and it has confirmed that a highly creative company is a perfect fit for me. I love collaborating with their creative team, working on big projects for well-known brands, and being in an inspiring atmosphere each day.
They originally had me come in to help with one project, but that was three months ago and they’ve been keeping me busy with a wide variety of projects and I am loving every minute of it! It’s so neat how a dream of mine has come full circle; I’m so thankful for this opportunity of growth and projects as I freelance for this client.
That being said, Laura Likes Design is thriving as a business and I’m as busy as ever. 2012 was my trial year for LLD and I’m so thrilled to see how much my little company has really taken off in just 12 months of business. It was a goal of mine to grow my company and I’m happy with the direction that it is heading.
I’ve loved designing and illustrating for so many great clients and am excited about my 2013 project line up. The spunky background image and social media icon set above was a fun mini-project that I designed a few weeks ago for a new client that was looking to spruce up her blog with a fun accessory pack.
I hope that this post encourages you that hard work pays off and you can reach your goals if you’re passionate and persistant!
