You all know full aware that this girl right here is a full-on fall fanatic. We even got engaged and married in the autumn season. So, what could be better than visiting an apple orchard on a beautiful Sunday in September?
Well, how about picking apples with your best friend who is in town from Hawaii?!
I’ve only mentioned it on the blog briefly, but my best friend since 8th grade moved to Hawaii last winter for a job as a dolphin trainer (can we just pause for a moment and think about how cool that is?!). I am so incredibly proud of her and happy for her, but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss her like crazy! Especially since we used to live a block away from each other while growing up!
We walked through the rows of the orchard as we laughed and caught up on each other’s lives. While Skype and texting are great, it was so fun to be able to catch up in person and enjoy each other’s company.
We not only picked honeycrisp apples, but also some raspberries. The raspberry season is just about over, but the apples were perfectly delicious. I’ve been enjoying at least one of them each day!
After the orchard, we headed on over to our favorite Starbucks coffee shop. This is the same Starbucks that we always meet at and have had so many great memories of silly stories, Bible studies, and girl talk while sitting within this familiar space.
We each ordered a drink–an iced latte and a cookie for me, and some fancy affogato concoction or something for her. I’ll have to ask her what her drink order was because it was super complicated but really delicious and different than anything I’d ever tried before (I stole a sip of hers).
We chatted at Starbucks for a good chunk of the afternoon and then I dropped her off at her parents’ house where she is staying for the week. Words can not describe how full my heart felt after spending a perfect afternoon with Allie! I’m excited to think about the fact that the next time I see her will be when I fly out to Hawaii!
Does your best friend live near you?
Favorite thing to get at the apple orchard? Caramel apple for me!
