Familiar Trails (Bluefin Bay Part II)

Day two started out slowly–I woke up before Andy, so I enjoyed sipping coffee and reading a book while admiring the view from our windows.

A little while later, Andy woke up to check out the view before we got ready for the day. We packed lunches, bundled up, and headed out to the familiar trail where we got engaged three years earlier.

It was a beautiful day for hiking and it actually ended up being much warmer than I anticipated. I shed that winter jacket, scarf, and my gloves about 20 minutes into the hike even though it was only about 55 degrees outside. Those base layers really worked better than I had anticipated! Parts of the trail were a little colder than others, but it was so nice in the sunshine!

We hiked up to the first peak to snap a few photos before heading to Carlton Peak–our engagement spot!

It was so fun to head back to our special spot where Andy proposed! It looked a little different this time since we were hiking a little later in the season this year, but it brought back so many great memories of starting our life together.

After taking a bunch of photos in the area, we headed back down the trail to trek over to another favorite hiking spot, Oberg Loop!

Oberg Loop seemed to be much more at its “peak colors” than the last time we visited this trail. Everywhere we looked, brilliant orange leaves surrounded us.

We enjoyed hiking, snapping photos, and just taking in the fresh air and beautiful sights. I always forget how truly wonderful being away from the cities is–I feel like it just refreshes me so much!

The trees went on for miles, and it felt like the views were even more spectacular with each lookout point that we stopped at.

We had such a great time exploring nature, visiting familiar trails, and spending time together! We are already talking about making another anniversary trip up there within the next couple years!

We’ve never been up north anywhere, but this looks like such a good vacation spot to just take a break and be refreshed, just like you said.
