Friday No. 30

I’m linking up today to share some highlights from our week!

1. The other day, I started binge-watching this show and it is SO good! I listened to the podcast last year, but I must say that I think I like the show better! I’ve been watching episodes during my treadmill workouts and the time flies by so quickly because of this!

2. I’ve always loved children’s books (and hope to illustrate one some day!), but shopping for books is even more fun now that we are expecting a little one! You guys know I love anything seasonal, so taking a peek at the Valentine books the other night while we were out was a must! We purchased these shelves for his nursery and are looking forward to curating a collection of books that are special to him and our family. We recently ordered this baby Pantone book for him since both of us are designers and we are so excited to read it to him!

3. I ordered a couple pairs of these earrings before Christmas and they have easily become my new favorites! Kilee is my go-to gal for hair inspiration and this shop that she runs with her husband is full of so many cute, lightweight styles! I love statement earrings but don’t like the weight that they add to my ears — these are a win-win situation! I ordered the onyx pair and the signature champagne pair. I’ll most likely add a colored pair to my collection sometime this spring, too — I’m anxious to see what they release around Valentine’s Day!

4. I ran into Target the other day to make a couple returns from an online order and decided to walk around to browse for a bit before heading out. I came across this shimmer version of my favorite Easter candies and as I was making my way towards the checkout lanes, this mini Essie gift set caught my eye — it was marked down 70% as part of their Christmas clearance, and for $2.99, I couldn’t pass it up especially since I needed a true white polish! I tried out this color upon arriving home and I am loving this shimmery rose gold color especially now that Valentine’s Day is around the corner!

5. I’ve been trying to take advantage of being productive during this time before baby arrives and have been whipping up a bunch of stuff to put in the freezer for easy meals. I made a huge batch of cinnamon apple oatmeal in the crockpot the other night and it made our house smell so good! I just toss a bunch of old fashioned oats, diced apples, cinnamon, almond milk, unsweetened applesauce, vanilla, and a bit of brown sugar and butter into the crock pot for 4 hours on high and it’s so easy! I divided it up into individual servings and popped those in the freezer for easy breakfasts on busy mornings.

6. I’m still on my crazy smoothie kick and I’m also happy to report that I actually enjoy eating dates now. My friend Gina brought a tub of them into work last year and as much as I wanted to like them, they just weren’t for me. Well, I tried them again recently since the nutritional stats are so beneficial for labor and after a few days of them, they grew on me! Most days I pop them into a smoothie (unsweetened almond milk, part of a frozen banana, dates, spinach, ice, and cacao powder) but they’re not so bad on their own, either!

7. I’m off to my post due-date OB appointment this morning to see where we are at with baby (I’m 40w2d) and to talk about options if he doesn’t decide to make an appearance in the next few days (Ah, it feels crazy to even type that out — that we will have a little baby boy literally ANY day now!) I keep telling him “today is a good day for a birthday, little dude!” but he doesn’t seem to think so yet, ha ha).

8. While I’m out this morning, I’m hoping to pop into Caribou to pick up a few of the mugs and tumblers that I designed! My cousin texted me a pic the other day of this little tumbler that I illustrated and handlettered — it’s been so fun to see these popping up in the world!

9. We’re hopefully going to squeeze in another date night this evening so I’m looking forward to that as well — I might see if I can convince Andy that we need to go out for dessert as one last hoorah before baby! ;)

What are you looking forward to this weekend?
Do you prefer studs or larger statement earrings?

Friday No. 29

I’m really looking forward to this weekend — there will be some sugar cookie decorating, baby prep (I think we’re going to assemble his stroller and install the car seat bases and baby mirrors into both vehicles), followed by lots of relaxation with my feet up. I’m also determined to finish the scarf that I started last winter! Also, I’m linking up today to share some thoughts for Friday — have a great weekend!

1. I’ve started packing our hospital bags — well, more like creating a pile in the corner of our master bedroom with some of the items we’ll be bringing with us. One of my friends gave me this clever gift at my baby shower — it’s a little kit that contains all the essentials to bring in your hospital bag!

2. I think our little guy is getting ready for his birthday because he has definitely dropped in the past few days. The top of my bump isn’t rock hard anymore (it kind of feels empty up there? so weird) and I can tell that baby is sitting much lower than usual. Whether he comes early or not, we are four weeks and a handful of days away from his due date!

3. We still have quite the stack of Christmas movies to work through this season so I’m thinking that an evening of pizza on the couch is going to happen this weekend while we watch a few more of our favorites. We’ve already watched Home Alone 1 & 2, but this classic is a must each year!

4. I’ve been tossing a load of baby laundry into the wash every few days in preparation of his arrival. The other day when I popped the dryer open and was greeted by this adorable sight, it made my heart so happy!

5. These seasonal flavored rx protein bars have been a favorite! I’m still steering clear of whey protein while pregnant, so these bars have been the perfect replacement for when I need a quick snack on the go.

6. It feels so surreal to already be at this point in the pregnancy — my OB told me the other day that he could literally come at any time and he’s reached the point where even if he came a few weeks early, he would still thrive. So crazy to think that what once was a baby the size of a jellybean is now over 18 inches tall!

What are you up to this weekend?
What date do you think Little Pang will make his appearance?

Friday No. 28

Andy and I decided to both take the day off from work and we are both looking forward to the long weekend before the holiday next week. I'm also really excited for tomorrow since I have plans to make Chex mix and these little gems with my sister and her girls!

  1. I’m almost done Christmas shopping! We picked up a gift for our nephew last weekend and I ordered my bestie’s gift this week! We just have one more nephew to shop for and then I need to pick up some things for Andy but then it’s wrapping time! I also kind of want to purchase a stocking for our little guy — you never know, he could arrive before Christmas! ;)

  2. Speaking of shopping for Andy, I’ll probably scope out Black Friday sales at some of his favorite stores — Vineyard Vines and Nordstrom are usually where I purchase the majority of his gifts. These and these little minis make for great stocking stuffers, too!

  3. We’re planning to swing by Trader Joe’s this weekend to check out their holiday items and pick up a few unique ingredients for when we host Thanksgiving next Thursday! They always have the best seasonal items — I’m on the hunt for a red pepper or holiday flavored jelly to use for an appetizer and a little mini Christmas tree like the one I purchased last year. Also, I’m thinking anything peppermint flavored will be tossed into our cart as well!

  4. The shower caps that I designed for Ulta were recently added to their store shelves — there’s a unicorn one, panda bears, and sweet treats! I just placed an order on Ulta.com this evening so that I could snag each of my designs along with these lip balms for Andy to toss in my stocking and a new bottle of my favorite foundation since I’m almost out!

  5. I still can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving next week! I’m looking forward to watching this holiday classic with Andy, enjoying some relaxing days at home, and doing a little online Black Friday shopping for our little family.

What are your Thanksgiving plans this year?

Favorite seasonal item from Trader Joe’s?
Their pumpkin butter is my absolute favorite!

Friday No. 27

I’m linking up to share some highlights from the week! It feels like this week flew by SO quickly so it feels a little strange that it’s already the weekend, but hey I’m not complaining! ;)

  1. Andy and I are going on a day date tomorrow and I’m so excited for it! We’re planning to do a bunch of holiday-themed activities to kick off this new season. The photo above is from a holiday date a few years ago — I feel like we look so little!

  2. We keep getting snow flurries and they are SO pretty! It’s making me excited for our first big snowfall, which hopefully happens soon!

  3. Tonight I’m heading out to run a few errands with my sister — including some baby necessities shopping. We’ve got just a little over 8 weeks to go so I’m starting to feel like we really need to check some things off of our list. I’m thinking of doing a Target and Amazon order next week just to knock out some of the random things we still need like these and these. We also need to pick up some newborn diapers and a box of wipes, too!

  4. My sister sent me a few Christmas gift ideas for my nieces in the form of an Amazon wishlist and it made shopping for them SO easy! I placed an order while blow drying my hair the other morning before work and it feels SO good to have both niece’s Christmas gifts and a birthday gift ordered and on their way!

  5. My Christmas gift is coming early this year and I couldn’t be more excited! Andy got a treadmill for me so that I can run during the winter months and easily work out while I’m home on maternity leave. We figured that this will be much easier than bringing our baby to the childcare center at the gym when he’s super little and it’s freezing outside!

With that, I’m off to work! Have a great weekend!

Friday No. 26

I’m linking up today to share some of the highlights from the past week or so!

1. My sister and I are going to make homemade Chex mix this month and I’m SO excited about this! Chex mix is one of our holiday traditions that we’ve been making for SO many years. Here’s a recap (and recipe!) of when we made a batch last year!

2. I’ve missed so much work due to this crazy outbreak of hives and I’m SO ready to get back to my normal routine. I wish I could say that I’ve been crazy productive during this week off, but in all honesty, I’ve lounged around in sweatpants and taken a lot of naps.

3. We have our hospital tour tomorrow afternoon and I’m really looking forward to checking out the labor / delivery part of the hospital where our baby will be born. I also keep checking the mail in anticipation of a community ed catalog arriving so that we can sign up to take an infant CPR class before Little Pang arrives, too!

4. I swung by Starbucks yesterday after my dermatologist appointment in anticipation of ordering a holiday drink in a red cup but the barista informed me that they technically won’t be released until today…so, I’ll definitely be headed there at some point either today or this weekend.

5. I backed up and cleaned off my iPhone yesterday and it feels SO good! I had so many pictures and random apps on there that needed to be dealt with!
