Relationships Survey

Today I’m linking up with The Blended Blog for their monthly survey and this month is all about relationships!

1. Who is your oldest friend/how did you meet?
My sister is my friend that I’ve known the longest but outside of family, my I met my bestie when I was 13! Actually, now that I think about it, my auntie is actually my oldest friend because she has known me since birth — so, almost 31 years!

2. Tell us about your circle of support.  Who are your people?
This is something I’d really like to prioritize this year, especially now that we have a little baby in our family! I feel like my friendships have changed and evolved over the years depending on what season of life I’m in. Some friends have been for just a season or two, while others have been in it for the long haul.

Andy, my aunt, sister, and close friends are my core circle of support and the first that I go to in times of joy or challenge. This year I’ve also connected with a great group of girls in my Mom’s Life (MOPs) group at church and their encouragement, friendship, and advice has been so valuable during my pregnancy and now life as a new mom. I am also so thankful for the neighborhood that we live in — there is a great group of girls that live on our street and they are so good about getting together regularly! We’ve only lived here for 6 months, but they’ve made us feel so welcomed and I’ve reached out to them about so many things already — from breastfeeding questions to who can help me track down some Girl Scouts to buy cookies from this month! :)

3. How did you meet your partner?
Andy and I met when he attended a portfolio review at my school — I ended up interning at the book design firm where he worked and the rest is history! I’ll have to share our full story on the blog sometime but you can read more about how we met, along with an overview of a few of the other relationships in my life in this post.

4. How is Valentine's Day celebrated in your home?
Andy and I used to go to Buca every year for Valentine’s Day but after some sub-par service the last two years, we are thinking about switching things up this year! Plus we are still trying to decide if we should bring Fletcher with us on our Valentine’s Date or get a babysitter for the evening! Valentine’s is definitely one of those overrated holidays but I seriously love it! We always get each other a card and a small gift or two, so we will most likely continue that tradition with Fletcher as well! You can see what he is getting for Valentine’s Day in this post!

5. What is your love language?
It’s a tie for quality time and words of affirmation

6. Do you prefer receiving flowers or chocolates?
I love flowers (especially tulips), but wouldn’t turn down chocolates either — especially if they are Lindt or Godiva!

7. What is the most meaningful gift you have ever received or given?
Little Fletcher!

P.S. I’m also linking up with Kristen today.

"Keep Me Entertained" Survey

Today I’m linking up with this fun little survey from The Blended Blog!

Book(s) You’ve Read Multiple Times:
This one is the first one that comes to mind — I typically read it each January.

Favorite Book / Author of All Time:
I don’t think I could pick just one — some of my favorites include Shari LaPena and Mary Higgins Clark though!

Favorite TV Show to Binge:
Downton Abbey was a recent favorite!

Favorite New-Ish TV Show:
I’m really enjoying The Resident, which my sister recommended to me last year!

Favorite Movie of All Time:
Hands down, this one wins every time.

Movie You’re Looking Forward to Watching:
My sister and I are talking about renting this one in the near future! We watched this one last week and it was super odd at first, then there were some twists that kept us entertained. It was definitely one that had potential but I wouldn’t say I recommend it.

First Concert You Attended:
Hmm…I think it was Sonshine Festival (weekend of concerts featuring Christian artists) when I was in 6th grade! Fun fact, I really don’t enjoy going to concerts however, seeing Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert was definitely an exception. I’d much rather go see a play or something of the sort.

Favorite Music Artist / Band:
Red, Demon Hunter, PVRIS, and SafetySuit. I also still really love Alanis Morissette and Avril Lavigne. :)

How Do You Listen?
We have a family subscription to Apple Music and we love it! It makes it so easy to create custom playlists, share music recommendations with friends, and listen offline!

Giving Thanks Survey

I’m linking up a little late for this month’s little questionnaire!

2-1.jpg

1. Have you ever kept a Gratitude Journal? Yes or No?
Yes! My friend Ashley gave me this one for Christmas a few years ago and it always helps me to remember the good things in my life. I really need to get back into a regular practice of journaling what I’m grateful for because it really makes a difference in my mindset.

2. Hosting Thanksgiving at your house? Yes or No?
We are still making our holiday plans! We’re not usually this last-minute but this fall has been crazy!

19.jpg

3. Favorite Food from The Thanksgiving Meal?
I’m not a huge Thanksgiving foods person, but it is my favorite holiday! Kind of ironic, I know! I’d have to say my favorite part of the meal is pumpkin pie topped with lots of whipped cream and a cup of coffee!

4. What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for?
Pretty fall leaves in the fall and then snow once November / December hit! Last night  when I left work and stepped outside, it smelled like winter and there were flurries falling from the sky. It made my heart so happy — I just love the holiday season so much!

5. Pumpkin Pie: Yes or No?
Yes! We usually pick one up from Costco!

6. Traditional Cookbook:
I’m not a huge “follow a recipe” kind of person, but when I do, it’s almost always from Pinterest.

7. Oven Baked or Deep-Fried Turkey?
Oven baked

8. Thanksgiving Leftovers: Yes or No?
Not a fan!

9. What is one household product your most grateful for?
Okay, so our rental house before we bought our new house didn’t have a dishwasher and after living 2 years without one, I have so much appreciation for having one again!

10. Are you most grateful for home cooked meals or restaurant meals?
Both — I usually prefer homemade but enjoy going out to eat with Andy or friends!
