June 2019 Goals

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted some goals — in fact, it looks like March was the last month that featured a monthly goals post. While we’re on that topic — let’s revisit those goals real quick and see where we’re at with them.

March 2019 Goals:
Click here for the original post.

1. Introduce Bottles
Done! We introduced these in early March and had no issues with him taking a bottle. We use these ones per his pediatrician’s recommendation and love that they are glass instead of plastic! Plus, they’re super cute and come in a variety of colors.

2. Schedule a Dental Cleaning
Done! I had no cavities, either! :)

3. Enjoy Maternity Leave
Done! I actually unexpectedly had a bit of an extended maternity leave since my first 3ish weeks back at work were super slow and only required me to be in the office a couple days per week while I did the rest of my work from home.

4. Look into Infant CPR Class
Done! We found someone that actually teaches this in your own home so we’re going to see if we can get a few other couples to join us and then book the appt!

5. Get Back into Blogging Routine
This is hit or miss — I try to blog as often as I can because I really enjoy it so much, but sometimes it’s hard to find the time with work, family, and sleep! ;)

June 2019 Goals:

1. Order Updated Pictures of Fletcher
I’d like to add these to his baby book, update the ones on our fridge, and send new photos to family / friends.

2. Update Fletcher’s Baby Book
I’ve been slacking on the actual book part but have been taking detailed notes month-by-month in the Notes app on my phone, so all I need to do is transfer the milestones and then add the pictures to go along with them.

3. Work Out Five Days Per Week
I want to make this a regular habit again — for awhile I kept telling myself I didn’t have time but what it really boils down to was that I wasn’t making time for it! It makes me feel so good so it needs to be a top priority even when things get busy!

4. Weekly Manicures
I used to be so good about doing weekly manicures and would really like to get back into that again — it’s just one of those little things that makes a big difference for me.

5. Update My Library Request List
I’d love to get some new books sent to my iPad so that I can get back into reading more often again!

What’s something you’d love to accomplish this month?
Do you usually set goals for the summer?

March 2019 Goals

I’m a little behind on posting about these for the month, but I’m going to roll with it since I’ve had these goals written down since last month and have already started making progress on them!

February Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Set Up a Family Calendar
Done! We started utilizing iCal for our family calendar and so far, it is working really well for us. I love that we both can view the calendar on our iPhones, iPad, and Macs! I still use my Simplified Planner as well, but love the digital iCal for easy calendar sharing between Andy and I.

2. Fill in Baby Book
I have the majority of the birth / one month pages done! I ordered a huge stack of photos last week so I’ll be sure to add those to his baby book once they arrive.

3. Establish and Commit to a New Fitness Routine
Done! This feels SO good to be back into my routine — not just physically, but also mentally! I’ve been strength training 3 days per week and using my treadmill throughout the week. I’m really enjoying being back in the gym but am also looking forward to many walks / runs outside once it warms up!

4. Pedicure + Haircut
Done! Both felt amazing and I’ll probably get another trim before I go back to work next month so that my locks are nice and fresh!

5. Set a Tentative Cleaning Schedule
Ha! This definitely didn’t happen especially since Fletcher dropped one of his naps starting at 6 weeks.

6. Organize Photos
I started on this one and then felt kind of overwhelmed by how many photos I had on my iPhone. I’m hoping to sit down and power through this on a Saturday afternoon this month or next.

March 2019 Goals:

1. Introduce Bottles
I’d love to introduce these so that once I go back to work, it’s one less transition for Fletcher to adjust to.

2. Schedule a Dental Cleaning
I was supposed to go in October but ended up canceling it due to being afraid of another latex reaction. I’m going to call around and find a latex-free office and schedule a cleaning so that it’s one less appointment for me to schedule around once I’m back at work.

3. Enjoy Maternity Leave
I’ve got a month and a half left and I’d like to really soak up this special time when it’s just Fletcher and I at home!

4. Look into Infant CPR Class
I’d love to have Andy and I complete a class on this in the next month or so!

5. Get Back into Blogging Routine
Like anything, whenever I fall out of my routine it’s always tricky to get back into the swing of it! I took some time off the last few weeks but have really missed blogging! I’m hoping to get back to my regular posting within the next week or so!

February 2019 Goals

I feel like I was chomping at the bit to get to January just so that we could meet our little baby but now that he is here, time needs to slow down because he is getting bigger everyday! My goals for January were a little more lax that usual since I knew we’d be busy adjusting to life with a newborn but now that we’re headed in the right direction of establishing a routine, I’m ready to get back to business in terms of goals for the month of February!

January Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Have a Baby!
Done! Fletcher James is here!

2. Soak Up this Season
Loving this sweet season of life that involves lots of cuddling, naps, and diaper changes.

3. Participate in The Simplicity Challenge
I completed most of these, just need to finish typing up the recaps — for the sake of efficiency, I might just combine the rest of the recaps into one final post. Here’s a recap of Week 1 and Week 2 though!

4. Have Grace for Myself
I’m so proud of myself for making really great strides in this area. I’ve been prioritizing taking baths, reading, taking naps when Fletcher is sleeping, etc. I’m also surprised by how much grace I’ve had for my body / mind as I recover from birth!

5. Accept Help
I’ve realized that what I’m really longing for is more connection with friends so I’ve been reaching out and setting up some things to look forward to in February to help me get out of the house and get my social fix! So far I have a girls’ night with the neighbors, coffee date with a friend, and a girls’ night with my Mom’s Life group planned and I’m so looking forward to all three of these! I also haven’t seen my auntie in awhile so I’ll probably be reaching out to her soon as well as scheduling some time with my sister and Fletcher’s little cousins!

February 2019 Goals

1. Set Up a Family Calendar
This is something we’ve been talking about doing for forever and February is going to be the month to do it! I want to set up a digital calendar that syncs with both of our phones — especially now that we have a baby and need to coordinate making sure one of us can watch Fletcher if the other person has something going on in the evenings or a weekend.

2. Fill in Baby Book
I’d really like to get a jumpstart on this while everything is still fresh in my mind

3. Establish and Commit to a New Fitness Routine
I was a little worried towards the end of pregnancy because my motivation for working out was so low due to being so uncomfortable, exhausted, etc. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that I’ve been itching to get back into working out and eating super healthy again now that I’m no longer pregnant! My doctor said I can do anything I did at 9months pregnant so I’ve been using our treadmill daily and will incorporate lifting once I hit the 6 weeks mark at the end of the month. My gym membership also reactivates March 1 and I’m honestly really looking forward to heading back there for some strength training followed by a trip to the steam room and a shower before heading home.

4. Pedicure + Haircut
These are two appointments I’d like to make this month — a pedicure mainly for a self-care afternoon and a haircut because this little bob could use some touching up! I actually scheduled the pedi appt already and am really looking forward to grabbing a Starbucks and heading to the salon tomorrow afternoon during Fletcher’s nap time (Andy will watch him at home while I’m gone).

5. Set a Tentative Cleaning Schedule
Now that I’m home during the week, I’d love to establish some sort of tentative cleaning schedule to help stay on top of things while taking care of a baby. We usually tidy up a little each day (wipe down counters, empty dishwasher, etc.), but I’d love to knock out one bigger cleaning task each day to avoid having to spend a whole morning cleaning the house.

6. Organize Photos
I’m getting a little wild and crazy this month and doing six goals instead of five mainly because I really want to get a good system for organizing our photos in place. I’d love to archive these online using Dropbox or Google Drive so that all of Fletcher’s photos are organized by month / event.

What’s one thing you’d love to accomplish this month?
What’s your least favorite household task?
Mine is the dishes!

January 2019 Goals

It’s a brand new year and I am SO excited!

December Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Finish Packing Our Hospital Bags
Done! There will be a few things I need to grab once it’s go-time such as my makeup and toiletries but they’re already in cosmetic bags and ready to go in case we need to leave in a rush!

2. Go on Dates Before Baby Arrives
Done! We went on a few holiday dates — not as many as we would have liked to due to some family things going on but we are thinking we can still do a few in January since baby will be so tiny and can just sleep in his car seat if we go out to dinner.

3. Fill Out My Tentative Birth Plan
Done! I was feeling kind of overwhelmed by this but after talking to a friend of mine about her method of writing hers, I whipped mine together and feel good about it!

4. Clean Off My iPhone
Done!

5. Nursery Prep
Done! I’ll be sure I share more once we get a couple more things ordered.

What a productive month it was! I think knowing that this was our last month before baby really lit a fire underneath me to get a lot of the baby-related tasks accomplished. Well, that and that whole “nesting” instinct that moms get before their baby is born is for real! A few of our closets got a good cleaning this month just because I felt like I needed to do something constructive, ha ha.

January 2019 Goals:

1. Have a Baby!
No big deal, right?!

2. Soak Up this Season
Babies don’t keep and I’m all for spending our days holding and loving on our new baby boy. Speaking of which, if you have any book or tv show recommendations, send them my way — I’m going to have a lot of down time while feeding him!

3. Participate in The Simplicity Challenge
We’ll see how this month goes as I anticipate it being a little bit of “survival mode” over here as we become nocturnal due to baby, but I’d really love to participate in this home organization challenge either this month or next to kick our year off on an organized note! I’ve heard most of these tasks take less than 15 minutes each and that feels pretty doable!

4. Have Grace for Myself
This is definitely going to be a month that is not only exciting, but also challenging as we learn how to best take care of our littlest love. I want to remind myself that it’s okay if the laundry piles up or if we’re still in our jammies in the afternoon. I also want to prioritize taking care of myself during this next stage of life — even if that’s just sneaking out for a pedicure, taking a hot bath once Andy is home and can watch the baby for a bit, or grabbing a latte with a friend.

5. Accept Help
This is SO hard for me but I know that we are going to need some help this month whether it be with meals, cleaning, or just having someone come over for company since it will be just me and the little guy during the day while Andy is at work.

What do you hope to accomplish this month?

December 2018 Goals

Well, it may be mid-December but better late than never to chat about some goals before we enter into a brand new year, right?

November Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Put up our Christmas tree!
Done! We purchased a new one on Black Friday since our other one was too small for the space. We moved that one near the bottom of our staircase and put the new one up in our living room. We don’t have all of the ornaments up and they most likely won’t make it to the tree this year, but it is what it is!

2. Tackle baby to-do’s:
We haven’t ordered a crib mattress yet, but we did order his baby book, purchase a recliner for his nursery, figure out diaper organization, and paint his dresser!

3. Meet our Pediatrician
Done! We love our new clinic and doctor that he will be seeing for all of his check-ups! I had several friends recommend this clinic to us and we couldn’t be happier so far since they are in alignment with our views on baby / child health.

4. Finish ALL Christmas Shopping and Wrapping
Done! This feels so good!

5. Go on a Holiday-Themed Date with Andy
We went on a weekday date and a holiday day date!

December 2018 Goals:

1. Finish Packing Our Hospital Bags
I’d say we’re about 80 percent packed — some of the items will be thrown in last minute since a lot of the toiletries (makeup, hair products, etc.) are still being used daily.

2. Go on Dates Before Baby Arrives
This is our last month to go out just the two of us without needing to book a babysitter or bring little guy with us! SO crazy to think that it will never be just the two of us again but we are so looking forward to having our little sidekick join us.

3. Fill Out My Tentative Birth Plan
I’m not one that is super gung-ho about things going down a specific way, but there are a few things I’d like to make note of that are important to us.

4. Clean Off My iPhone
My phone is constantly reminding me that I have too many apps and photos on it so I’d love to start the new year with a clean slate AND have tons of room to snap lots of photos of our sweet little newborn!

5. Nursery Prep
I’d love to hang his bookshelves and put away all of his clothes before he arrives. Fingers crossed we can knock this out next weekend.
