January 2019 Goals

It’s a brand new year and I am SO excited!

December Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Finish Packing Our Hospital Bags
Done! There will be a few things I need to grab once it’s go-time such as my makeup and toiletries but they’re already in cosmetic bags and ready to go in case we need to leave in a rush!

2. Go on Dates Before Baby Arrives
Done! We went on a few holiday dates — not as many as we would have liked to due to some family things going on but we are thinking we can still do a few in January since baby will be so tiny and can just sleep in his car seat if we go out to dinner.

3. Fill Out My Tentative Birth Plan
Done! I was feeling kind of overwhelmed by this but after talking to a friend of mine about her method of writing hers, I whipped mine together and feel good about it!

4. Clean Off My iPhone
Done!

5. Nursery Prep
Done! I’ll be sure I share more once we get a couple more things ordered.

What a productive month it was! I think knowing that this was our last month before baby really lit a fire underneath me to get a lot of the baby-related tasks accomplished. Well, that and that whole “nesting” instinct that moms get before their baby is born is for real! A few of our closets got a good cleaning this month just because I felt like I needed to do something constructive, ha ha.

January 2019 Goals:

1. Have a Baby!
No big deal, right?!

2. Soak Up this Season
Babies don’t keep and I’m all for spending our days holding and loving on our new baby boy. Speaking of which, if you have any book or tv show recommendations, send them my way — I’m going to have a lot of down time while feeding him!

3. Participate in The Simplicity Challenge
We’ll see how this month goes as I anticipate it being a little bit of “survival mode” over here as we become nocturnal due to baby, but I’d really love to participate in this home organization challenge either this month or next to kick our year off on an organized note! I’ve heard most of these tasks take less than 15 minutes each and that feels pretty doable!

4. Have Grace for Myself
This is definitely going to be a month that is not only exciting, but also challenging as we learn how to best take care of our littlest love. I want to remind myself that it’s okay if the laundry piles up or if we’re still in our jammies in the afternoon. I also want to prioritize taking care of myself during this next stage of life — even if that’s just sneaking out for a pedicure, taking a hot bath once Andy is home and can watch the baby for a bit, or grabbing a latte with a friend.

5. Accept Help
This is SO hard for me but I know that we are going to need some help this month whether it be with meals, cleaning, or just having someone come over for company since it will be just me and the little guy during the day while Andy is at work.

What do you hope to accomplish this month?

December 2018 Goals

Well, it may be mid-December but better late than never to chat about some goals before we enter into a brand new year, right?

November Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post!

1. Put up our Christmas tree!
Done! We purchased a new one on Black Friday since our other one was too small for the space. We moved that one near the bottom of our staircase and put the new one up in our living room. We don’t have all of the ornaments up and they most likely won’t make it to the tree this year, but it is what it is!

2. Tackle baby to-do’s:
We haven’t ordered a crib mattress yet, but we did order his baby book, purchase a recliner for his nursery, figure out diaper organization, and paint his dresser!

3. Meet our Pediatrician
Done! We love our new clinic and doctor that he will be seeing for all of his check-ups! I had several friends recommend this clinic to us and we couldn’t be happier so far since they are in alignment with our views on baby / child health.

4. Finish ALL Christmas Shopping and Wrapping
Done! This feels so good!

5. Go on a Holiday-Themed Date with Andy
We went on a weekday date and a holiday day date!

December 2018 Goals:

1. Finish Packing Our Hospital Bags
I’d say we’re about 80 percent packed — some of the items will be thrown in last minute since a lot of the toiletries (makeup, hair products, etc.) are still being used daily.

2. Go on Dates Before Baby Arrives
This is our last month to go out just the two of us without needing to book a babysitter or bring little guy with us! SO crazy to think that it will never be just the two of us again but we are so looking forward to having our little sidekick join us.

3. Fill Out My Tentative Birth Plan
I’m not one that is super gung-ho about things going down a specific way, but there are a few things I’d like to make note of that are important to us.

4. Clean Off My iPhone
My phone is constantly reminding me that I have too many apps and photos on it so I’d love to start the new year with a clean slate AND have tons of room to snap lots of photos of our sweet little newborn!

5. Nursery Prep
I’d love to hang his bookshelves and put away all of his clothes before he arrives. Fingers crossed we can knock this out next weekend.

November 2018 Goals

These months are flying by! Less than three weeks until Thanksgiving, seven weeks until Christmas, and nine weeks until baby! Today I’m sharing my goals for the month of November and also checking in on my October goals!

October Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post.

1. Baby To-Do List
Done! I also just ordered his diaper bag last week — we might need to find an alternative option for when Andy is flying solo with our little guy, because the one that I chose is a little feminine looking. ;)

2. Infant CPR Class
Hoping to register for this once our next community ed catalog arrives.

3. Celebrate 7 Years of Marriage with Andy
We exchanged cards and Andy bought me a bouquet of flowers, but we still need to go out to celebrate. October was just a crazy month overall, so we are hoping to do something fun to celebrate before the holidays hit.

4. Practice Self-Care
I unintentionally had a lot of time for this due to my crazy allergic reaction — I missed over a week of work but really used that time to take a lot of naps and watch tv. I also painted my nails for the first time in like a month and that felt amazing — its crazy how the little things really make such a difference.

5. Start Thinking about Christmas Shopping
My list is made! Just need to purchase the items — most of which will be purchased during online Black Friday sales.

November Goals:

1. Put up our Christmas tree!
We always put up our tree super early — typically the weekend after Halloween! I’d love to grab a few new decorations since we have a new house to decorate this year! We’d love to add some garland to our fireplace mantle and also the railings of our staircase, too!

2. Tackle these baby to-do’s*:

  • Order crib mattress

  • Order baby book

  • Purchase a glider / recliner for the nursery

  • Figure out diaper organization for nursery

  • Make some freezer meals with my sister — this might have to be in December though — depends on how crazy this month ends up being

  • Paint his dresser and maaaaybe paint his room the same color as our main level

*I really want to make a dent in some of our baby to-do’s just in case he decides he’d like to arrive in December instead of January! ;)

3. Meet our Pediatrician
We recently decided to switch pediatricians and have an appointment to meet with him this week! I’m looking forward to checking out the clinic and asking a few questions!

4. Finish ALL Christmas Shopping and Wrapping
I did this last year and it felt amazing!

5. Go on a Holiday-Themed Date with Andy
This will most likely consist of grabbing a holiday drink and browsing holiday decor but it’s something that we both really enjoy each year!

What’s your favorite part about November?
Mine is the anticipation of the holidays!

October 2018 Goals

This hasn’t been the lovely fall that we’ve been anticipating (it’s been rainy, gray, and damp for I don’t even know how many days straight). We even have some snow in the 10 day forecast but we’ll see if that actually ends up happening!

Even though we didn’t get the gorgeous autumn that I love so much, I am still really loving this new season of slower days, cooler temps, and all of the layers. Speaking of which, I definitely need to get a maternity winter jacket because my North Face is past the point of zipping up since Little Pang is riding front and center. :)

September Goals Check-In:
Click here for the original post.

1. Baby Registries
Done! These have been updated and are ready to go! Not only will they be great for our baby showers, but it’s a nice way to see what we still need to purchase for our little guy!

2. Apple Orchard Date

We tried so hard to make this happen but our weather in September wasn’t the greatest — we did have one gorgeous fall weekend but that was the weekend that we painted the living room and did a few other house projects so we didn’t make it to the orchard. This might have to happen next fall instead — which is fine with me, because we’ll have a cute little addition to take on the hay ride! :)

3. Utilize My Planner

This helped SO much! I went back to my roots and started using my planner each week to track to-do lists and my schedule. Will definitely continue to utilize this helpful tool as I move forward through the rest of the year.

4. Finalize Baby Shower Details
Done! Invitations are sent, registries completed, and the party is planned for 10/20.

5. Enjoy The Month

I didn’t get outside as much as I would have liked to, but I’ve been enjoying cozy nights at home with my fall tv shows on the evenings that Andy teaches his design class.

October Goals:

1. Baby To-Do List
I’d love to sit down and make a master to-do list of things we need to do before his arrival. This month I’d also like to purchase the following baby items: diaper bag, baby book, and a crib mattress. I’m thinking one of my November goals will be to finalize his nursery — right now it’s pretty bare but our weekends this month are already all booked up so I’m looking forward to decorating his room in the coming month.

2. Infant CPR Class
I’d like to book an infant CPR class for us to take sometime between now and his arrival so that we feel prepared in case of an emergency with our little guy.

3. Celebrate 7 Years of Marriage with Andy
October 15th is our wedding anniversary but we’ll probably celebrate next weekend since it falls on a weeknight. Click here for a recap of our wedding ceremony!

4. Practice Self-Care
I feel like these past few months have been such a whirlwind with moving, being pregnant, starting a new job, etc. and I’ve started to feel a little run-down lately. I’ve been trying to be more intentional with my evenings at home so that I can rest and relax especially as I enter my 3rd trimester next week!

5. Start Thinking about Christmas Shopping
Like last year, my goal for November is to finish up all of our Christmas shopping by December 1st so that we can slow down and savor the month before Christmas. This month I plan to make a list of ideas for everyone that we need to shop for so that next month we can divide and conquer. Click here for my post on how to finish your shopping ahead of time!

Favorite thing to do in October?

September 2018 Goals

This month kicks off my favorite time of year -- September through December have always been my favorites, even as a little girl. I'm really looking forward to these next few months of crisp weather, colorful leaves, seasonal treats, snowflakes, and holiday celebrations.

12.jpg

You may read about my last month's goals here and my progress on them is below:

1. Paint!
We decided to wait until this month to paint for two reasons: 1. We want to tour some homes in the Parade of Homes to check out color palettes before we commit to anything. 2. By waiting until the weather gets cooler, we can open all of the windows to help air the house out as the paint dries. The main reason for this is due to pregnancy -- I'm trying to stay away from chemical fumes for the baby's sake.

2. Focus on an Intentional Evening Routine
I've been taking a lot of hot baths in our soaker tub, but definitely want to establish more of a routine with moisturizing my face, doing my meditation app, etc. I think this will be easier this next month as things slow down a bit -- August was such a full month for us with moving and me starting a new job.

3. Tap!
Done! It felt so good to pull out my tap shoes and tap around my basement while listening to music. Fourteen years later, and the skills are still there!

4. Unpack
We're about 90% unpacked -- there are a few boxes in the office, one in the master bedroom, and a stack in the basement that need to be opened and put away. They aren't really items that we use regularly, so they will probably be unpacked later this fall.

5. Start Shopping for a Dining Room Table
We've started looking around -- we love this one but don't want a veneer top. However, we did find a desk that we like for our front office, so we're toying with ordering this one!

As far as September goals go:

1. Baby Registries
I want to get these nailed down since my baby shower will be next month! My sister is going to help me out since she's a pro with baby gear!

2. Apple Orchard Date
One of my favorite fall activities involves visiting an apple orchard or two! Last year we went to a new (to us) one, and we had the best time!

3. Utilize My Planner
My planner has kind of fallen to the wayside the last few months and I'd love to get back into being intentional with planning my days. I'd also like to get back to using an editorial calendar for my blog posts -- I used one last fall / winter and felt like it really contibuted to me posting regularly.

4. Finalize Baby Shower Details
I'm really looking forward to this and want to get all the details wrapped up in the new few weeks!

5. Enjoy The Month
These favorite months of mine always seem to fly by so quickly, so I really want to be intentional about sitting outside, going for walks, enjoying anything and everything pumpkin flavored, and just savoring the start of this new season.
