What's Up Wednesday #15

I’m linking up for What’s Up Wednesday today!

What we're eating this week:

I made a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies to take to a friend and you’d better believe we are enjoying the extras around here! I didn’t have enough chocolate chips, so I tossed in some white chocolate baking chips as well and it ended up being a very good decision if I do say so myself.

What I'm reminiscing about:

I just backed up my iPhone and all of my pictures — looking back at Fletcher’s first few weeks has made me realize how much he has changed!

What I'm loving:

These beautiful spring days with sunlight streaming through our house and going for long walks with Fletcher.

IMG_5383.jpg

What we've been up to:

I’ve been trying to be really intentional about my days with Fletcher since these are the last few weeks of just he and I before I go back to work. I recently read something that talked about the importance of using everyday tasks as a way to connect with your child — even something as mundane as a diaper changing or putting socks on. Fletcher has really changed a lot since he hit the two month mark, so it’s been really fun to talk to him and have him babble back, have him interact with us when we play with toys and books, and watch him experience things for the first time (such as being outside on a sunny day, etc.).

What I'm dreading:

Spring always goes so fast and summer isn’t my favorite only because of the crazy humidity we experience here.

What I'm working on:

Wrapping things up before going back to work — purchasing some new clothes, going through my closet, getting rid of items throughout the house that we aren’t using, etc.

What I'm excited about:
I’m just really enjoying this transition to spring that just occurred in the last couple of weeks — I feel like my motivation for everything is so much higher, ha ha.

What I'm watching / reading:
The usual shows, plus I just started Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and The Act. The PLL spinoff show is just okay so far but I’m super intrigued with The Act!

What I'm listening to:

I recently added a bunch of songs from my sister’s workout playlist to my own and it’s been so motivating to have a great playlist while at the gym. I’m also loving Lara Casey’s new podcast while I go for walks outside, too.

What I'm wearing:

I wear a lot of athleisure items during the week since we have been going for a long walk each day, but usually jeans and a cardigan if I go somewhere else.

What I'm doing this weekend:

Soaking up as much time outside as possible!

IMG_5415.jpg

What I'm looking forward to next month:

Lots of stroller walks on these gorgeous spring days! Also, Fletcher’s first Easter — I can’t wait to assemble his little Easter basket!

What else is new:

We have finally gotten around to shopping for items for our home — this past year has been so crazy busy so furnishing our house has definitely been on the back burner. We recently purchased a table for our entry way and a dining room table as well! It feels good to be making progress in this area — next up, we are in search of a dining room rug, dining chairs, and a rug for our entry way.

Bonus question: What’s your favorite Easter side dish?
Usually just some sort of spring-ish salad or something!

Pick a few questions and answer them in the comments below!

What we’re eating this week:

Lots of healthy meals! I’ve been craving fresh fruits, salads, smoothies, and veggies ever since Fletcher was born and it feels so good to have an appetite again after everything feeling a little lackluster towards the end of pregnancy.

What I’m reminiscing about:

Nothing — just really soaking in this sweet season of life.

IMG_3732.jpg

What I’m loving:

Being a mom to Fletcher!

What we’ve been up to:

Feeding, changing diapers, napping, and enjoying our time with Fletcher!

What I’m dreading:

Our upcoming taxes appointment; however, my half of the taxes will be easier this year since I don’t have mileage and 1099 forms to turn in this time around!

What I’m working on:

Figuring out our new routines

What I’m excited about:

I’m really excited to grab frozen yogurt with my sister and her littles this next month! Also, I can’t believe that Friday is already February! Usually by February, I’m so over winter but I do feel like there is something special about that month — Valentine’s Day always makes me so happy inside and I’m looking forward to it!

What I’m watching / reading:

All of my favorite shows are back on for the second half of the season, so I’ve been enjoying those!

What I’m listening to:

Andy came across this song the other day and I’m obsessed with it!

What I’m wearing:

ALL the things! It’s been SO nice to be out of maternity clothes and reunited with a lot of the pieces in my closet.

What I’m doing this weekend:

Just hanging out with the boys!

What I’m looking forward to next month:

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with my little family!

What else is new:

Not too much other than just adjusting to our new life together!

What is your favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
Do you have Valentine’s Day plans this year?

What's Up Wednesday #13

What we’re eating this week:

I’ve reached a weird “blah” state about food — I noticed that this started around the beginning of my third trimester. I don’t feel like cooking and nothing really sounds good so I’ve been eating a lot of egg sandwiches, salads, stir fry, fruit, cereal, and yogurt.

What I’m reminiscing about:

Lots of snow for the holidays! I keep wishing for a really good blizzard because last year we didn’t get a good dumping until right after the holidays! We got some significant snowfall a few weekends ago, but it’s been so warm lately that it has almost all melted!

What I’m loving:

Christmas decorations everywhere we go — the grocery stores, shopping malls, and lights on houses. I have a chiro appointment on Thursday after work and I’m thinking of driving through a few neighborhoods on the way home since there are lots of festive houses in that area.

Speaking of which, I just started seeing a new chiropractor that was recommended to me. I had such a great chiropractic office when we lived on the other side of town — they helped me SO much with all of my sports-related alignment issues when I was on my intense training plan. This new clinic is VERY similar to my old one and I already feel so at home there — they are helping me with a few pregnancy-related alignment issues as we get ready for baby to be born and it feels so good to get back into being adjusted again!

What we’ve been up to:

Prepping for baby, getting ready for the holidays, and enjoying the season!

What I’m dreading:

Nothing really!

IMG_2876.jpg

What I’m working on:

Winding down at work and getting ready for our new chapter of life with a little one. We started grocery delivery last weekend and it has been SO nice! I was able to do a workout at home and as soon as I came upstairs, my groceries were on my front steps — it felt like such a treat to not have to brave the weekend crowds! This is going to be so handy once baby is here — no need to take him out to the stores when it is freezing outside!

What I’m excited about:

OUR LITTLE BABY COMING HOME TO US!

What I’m watching / reading:

I haven’t been watching much tv lately — I’m still riding that nap train after work, so most of my evenings are spent making a quick dinner, taking a nap, having a snack, then going to bed for real. I’ve been reading super random books that I find really fascinating such as this one.

What I’m listening to:

Christmas playlists and the local Christmas radio station whenever I’m in the car. I’ve also been really into playing the “Christmas Jazz” station whenever we’re home. Oh, and this guy has a new album and it’s so good! We’ve also gotten into the habit of playing Christmas music in our master bathroom while we get ready for work, which has been so fun!

What I’m wearing:

Basically the same six outfits on repeat, ha ha. Just a few more weeks of maternity clothes so I’m not planning on purchasing anything new. I did order a new robe for the hospital and our early weeks at home, but other than that, I’m really looking forward to being back to normal clothes aka all the J.Crew sweaters and jeans with real zippers and buttons.

What I’m doing this weekend:

I’m kicking off my Christmas break with a prenatal massage on Saturday morning. I got my hair cut last weekend and I’m thinking of maybe getting a brow wax sometime after Christmas — I just feel like it’s going to be tricky to get out of the house the first few weeks so I’m trying to take care of a bunch of things before he arrives!

What I’m looking forward to next month:

Baby!

What else is new:

We’re just three weeks away from his due date!

What's Up Wednesday #12

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts and it’s one of my favorite ways to recap the past month! I'm linking up for this month's What's Up Wednesday! Click here to read entries from prior months!

What we’re eating this week:
I’ve been on a squash kick (this occurs just about every September - November for me) and have been baking spaghetti, acorn, and butternut squash each Sunday afternoon to enjoy throughout the week. I typically mix the spaghetti squash with either marinara or butter and top it with roasted veggies and some ground turkey. As for the butternut + acorn squash, that’s usually enjoyed with a little butter and S&P. So good!

IMG_6924.jpg

What I’m reminiscing about:
Nothing really — this is my favorite time of year so I am soaking up every drop of it

8.jpg

What I’m loving:
This weather and this season — all day, everyday.

What we’ve been up to:
Painting the walls of our main floor! We love the layout of our new house but weren’t crazy about the shade of gray on the walls (it tends to have a lavender-ish tint to it in certain lighting) so we are painting our entire main floor this color, changing our baseboards to a brighter white, and painting the fireplace mantel white. We’re talking about eventually remodeling the kitchen with white enameled cabinetry with a tile backsplash and lighter countertops but that will be after baby since this fall is already flying by with projects. Once the kitchen is done, we plan to rip out the carpet in the living room and office and do hardwood floors throughout — right now our kitchen and main living area floors are a warmer colored wood and we’d love to swap them out with more of a grayish toned wood flooring.

IMG_8007.jpg

What I’m dreading:
Normally I’d be dreading when my favorite time of year ends (January 1st isn’t my favorite due to how cold Jan-March are). However, this year a little boy will be joining us around that time so I’m really looking forward to 2019 even if it means my favorite time of year is over!

What I’m working on:
Our to-do list before baby comes! This week includes researching strollers + car seats for our little guy.

10.jpg

What I’m excited about:
Everything about these next few months — fall festivities, the holidays, prepping for baby, etc. I’m SO excited to set up our Christmas tree once Halloween is over!

What I’m watching / reading:
All my favorite shows started up this week and I’m loving 911, This Is Us, The Resident, American Housewife, and Grey’s! My monthly book review will be up next week so be sure to check back for that!

What I’m listening to:
The Casefile podcast as usual, along with some Lorie Line piano when I’m at home — quite the opposite listening selections but there’s just something so relaxing about piano music

BadDay.jpg

What I’m wearing:
Jeans, vests, jackets, and my Hunters

What I’m doing this weekend:
Testing out strollers + car seats with Andy and maybe taking a day trip to an apple orchard. Oh, and there’s also a new little cafe / bakery we want to check out as well!

What I’m looking forward to next month:
Savoring my favorite month

What else is new:
So, I have this new thing that whenever I go to a clothing store I have to swing by the baby boy’s department and take a look around. It just makes my heart so happy to see all of the adorable little flannel onesies, tiny puffer vests, and itty bitty boots.

IMG_1299.jpg

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite pumpkin flavored food or drink?
PSL is my favorite pumpkin drink, and my homemade pumpkin bread is probably my favorite fall food. However, this is another top contender — I always buy multiple jars before they stop stocking the shelves with it towards the end of the season.

What tv shows are you watching this fall?
Do you enjoy painting?
I think I would like it, but I’ve been hands-off with our current project due to the paint fumes while pregnant!

What's Up Wednesday #11

I'm linking up for this month's What's Up Wednesday! Click here to read entries from prior months!

IMG_0178.jpg

What we're eating this week:
We tend to eat fairly simply over here -- my lunches and dinners are usually more salad / veggie based while Andy focuses on lots of proteins. That being said, our meals lately have been pretty random because we're currently playing a game called clean out the fridge before we move. As I'm typing this I'm eating a bowl full of quinoa, green peas, chickpeas, a fresh squeeze of lemon juice, and topped with some greens and diced tomatoes.

What I'm reminiscing about:
Lately I've found myself thinking more about the near future than reminiscing on the past. Now that the 4th of July is behind us, I'm really looking forward to fall -- we have so many good things on the horizon and I just want to take part in all of it. Setting up our new house, hosting holidays and events, cooking in a new kitchen, being neighbors with my sister, reading out on our deck on crisp mornings, etc.

What I'm loving:
Spending weekend afternoons at the pool with Andy -- we're toying with the idea of switching gyms once we move to our new neighborhood since there's a gym much closer (and my sister belongs to it as well), so I'm trying to take advantage of Life Time's outdoor pools in case we don't have that option next summer!

What we've been up to:
Packing up everything in this house -- I'm actually really proud of us because we really don't have a lot of excess clutter, which has made packing fairly simple compared to previous moves. Ever since I read this book and this book, I've adapted a more simplistic lifestyle and it's been so freeing.

What I'm dreading:
I think I mentioned this last week, but the physical part of moving. Luckily, we're hiring professionals to deal with the furniture!

What I'm working on:
Trying to be patient as we live in limbo -- our living room is currently stacked with boxes that are ready to be loaded into the moving truck.

What I'm excited about:
Making our new house a home

What I'm watching / reading:
I read so many great thrillers this month -- be sure to check back tomorrow for my monthly book review!

What I'm listening to:
This album by my favorite band has been on repeat lately!

What I'm wearing:
These shorts and simple tanks since it's been so hot and muggy out!

What I'm doing this weekend:
MOVING!

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Living in our new house!

What else is new:
I have SO many blog post ideas once we're in our new house and can't wait to share them! Our current rental is not very photogenic, so I'm really excited about finally being in a pretty space and being able to take lots of pics for blog posts!
