What's Up Wednesday #12

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts and it’s one of my favorite ways to recap the past month! I'm linking up for this month's What's Up Wednesday! Click here to read entries from prior months!

What we’re eating this week:
I’ve been on a squash kick (this occurs just about every September - November for me) and have been baking spaghetti, acorn, and butternut squash each Sunday afternoon to enjoy throughout the week. I typically mix the spaghetti squash with either marinara or butter and top it with roasted veggies and some ground turkey. As for the butternut + acorn squash, that’s usually enjoyed with a little butter and S&P. So good!

What I’m reminiscing about:
Nothing really — this is my favorite time of year so I am soaking up every drop of it

What I’m loving:
This weather and this season — all day, everyday.

What we’ve been up to:
Painting the walls of our main floor! We love the layout of our new house but weren’t crazy about the shade of gray on the walls (it tends to have a lavender-ish tint to it in certain lighting) so we are painting our entire main floor this color, changing our baseboards to a brighter white, and painting the fireplace mantel white. We’re talking about eventually remodeling the kitchen with white enameled cabinetry with a tile backsplash and lighter countertops but that will be after baby since this fall is already flying by with projects. Once the kitchen is done, we plan to rip out the carpet in the living room and office and do hardwood floors throughout — right now our kitchen and main living area floors are a warmer colored wood and we’d love to swap them out with more of a grayish toned wood flooring.

What I’m dreading:
Normally I’d be dreading when my favorite time of year ends (January 1st isn’t my favorite due to how cold Jan-March are). However, this year a little boy will be joining us around that time so I’m really looking forward to 2019 even if it means my favorite time of year is over!

What I’m working on:
Our to-do list before baby comes! This week includes researching strollers + car seats for our little guy.

10.jpg

What I’m excited about:
Everything about these next few months — fall festivities, the holidays, prepping for baby, etc. I’m SO excited to set up our Christmas tree once Halloween is over!

What I’m watching / reading:
All my favorite shows started up this week and I’m loving 911, This Is Us, The Resident, American Housewife, and Grey’s! My monthly book review will be up next week so be sure to check back for that!

What I’m listening to:
The Casefile podcast as usual, along with some Lorie Line piano when I’m at home — quite the opposite listening selections but there’s just something so relaxing about piano music

BadDay.jpg

What I’m wearing:
Jeans, vests, jackets, and my Hunters

What I’m doing this weekend:
Testing out strollers + car seats with Andy and maybe taking a day trip to an apple orchard. Oh, and there’s also a new little cafe / bakery we want to check out as well!

What I’m looking forward to next month:
Savoring my favorite month

What else is new:
So, I have this new thing that whenever I go to a clothing store I have to swing by the baby boy’s department and take a look around. It just makes my heart so happy to see all of the adorable little flannel onesies, tiny puffer vests, and itty bitty boots.

IMG_1299.jpg

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite pumpkin flavored food or drink?
PSL is my favorite pumpkin drink, and my homemade pumpkin bread is probably my favorite fall food. However, this is another top contender — I always buy multiple jars before they stop stocking the shelves with it towards the end of the season.

What tv shows are you watching this fall?
Do you enjoy painting?
I think I would like it, but I’ve been hands-off with our current project due to the paint fumes while pregnant!

What's Up Wednesday #11

I'm linking up for this month's What's Up Wednesday! Click here to read entries from prior months!

IMG_0178.jpg

What we're eating this week:
We tend to eat fairly simply over here -- my lunches and dinners are usually more salad / veggie based while Andy focuses on lots of proteins. That being said, our meals lately have been pretty random because we're currently playing a game called clean out the fridge before we move. As I'm typing this I'm eating a bowl full of quinoa, green peas, chickpeas, a fresh squeeze of lemon juice, and topped with some greens and diced tomatoes.

What I'm reminiscing about:
Lately I've found myself thinking more about the near future than reminiscing on the past. Now that the 4th of July is behind us, I'm really looking forward to fall -- we have so many good things on the horizon and I just want to take part in all of it. Setting up our new house, hosting holidays and events, cooking in a new kitchen, being neighbors with my sister, reading out on our deck on crisp mornings, etc.

What I'm loving:
Spending weekend afternoons at the pool with Andy -- we're toying with the idea of switching gyms once we move to our new neighborhood since there's a gym much closer (and my sister belongs to it as well), so I'm trying to take advantage of Life Time's outdoor pools in case we don't have that option next summer!

What we've been up to:
Packing up everything in this house -- I'm actually really proud of us because we really don't have a lot of excess clutter, which has made packing fairly simple compared to previous moves. Ever since I read this book and this book, I've adapted a more simplistic lifestyle and it's been so freeing.

What I'm dreading:
I think I mentioned this last week, but the physical part of moving. Luckily, we're hiring professionals to deal with the furniture!

What I'm working on:
Trying to be patient as we live in limbo -- our living room is currently stacked with boxes that are ready to be loaded into the moving truck.

What I'm excited about:
Making our new house a home

What I'm watching / reading:
I read so many great thrillers this month -- be sure to check back tomorrow for my monthly book review!

What I'm listening to:
This album by my favorite band has been on repeat lately!

What I'm wearing:
These shorts and simple tanks since it's been so hot and muggy out!

What I'm doing this weekend:
MOVING!

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Living in our new house!

What else is new:
I have SO many blog post ideas once we're in our new house and can't wait to share them! Our current rental is not very photogenic, so I'm really excited about finally being in a pretty space and being able to take lots of pics for blog posts!

What's Up Wednesday #10

I can't believe that next week is already the 4th of July -- this summer is flying by! On that note, I feel like we've hardly done any summer activities, so that needs to change soon! I keep stalking the weather app to see if there will be any sunny weekend days so we can hit the pool again!

I'm linking up today for What's Up Wednesday -- it's been awhile since I've done one of these! Also linking up with these three bloggers as well! #1, #2, #3.

IMG_9996.jpg

What we're eating this week:
Costco had my favorite cauliflower rice back in stock, so I've been making burrito bowls with that! I just mix it with freshly squeezed lime juice and some taco seasoning!

What I'm reminiscing about:
Nothing, really -- just really excited to move in one month!

IMG_0006.jpg

What I'm loving:
LaCroix + fresh squeeze of lime + lots of ice in this tall cup. My bestie came over a couple weeks ago for dinner and some girl chat and she brought me my favorite candies -- these always hit the spot! Speaking of Sour Patch Kids, I really want to track down a bag of this new flavor!

What we've been up to:
Andy did a TON of prep work for us closing on our new home -- organizing bank stuff, getting the cashier's check, researching insurance, etc. I participated by researching what shower curtain we should purchase for the guest bathroom. Hahaha, kidding -- I helped out some, too! Seriously though, I think this one would be perfect.

What I'm dreading:
The physical act of moving but it will feel SO good to be in the new place!

IMG_9946.jpg

What I'm working on:
Bible Study!

What I'm excited about:
Grilling on our new deck!

What I'm watching / reading:
Definitely was on a true crime kick these past few weeks (June book review will be up on the blog tomorrow), but I just downloaded this ebook to my iPad so I'll be working through that this week.

What I'm listening to:
Personality Hacker Podcasts!

img13.jpg

What I'm wearing:
Lots of shorts and tees on the weekend since it's been hot! Side note, I purchased this random Roxy tee while on Oahu back in 2014 and I still wear it to lounge around in every summer because it is SO soft and comfy!

What I'm doing this weekend:
We have family in town from out of state, so we will be doing a family dinner on Friday night; otherwise hoping to hit the pool!

IMG_9981.jpg

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Unpacking and setting up our new house -- I'm obsessed with our new staircase!

What else is new:
Not too much! I painted my nails for the first time in forever and it made me ridiculously happy! This color is perfect for the holiday next week!

What's Up Wednesday #9

I'm linking up today for this month's What's Up Wednesday! You may check out my previous WUW posts by clicking here! I feel like the month of March completely flew by -- it's hard to believe it's already Easter this weekend!

IMG_8994.jpg

What we're eating this week:
Lately my lunches have consisted of a bunch of random things such as cauliflower rice, veggies, chickpeas, avocado, nuts, etc. piled on a plate.

IMG_9150.jpg

What I'm reminiscing about:
Last week, I had an eye doctor appointment and it just so happened to be next to one of my favorite little spots -- I stopped in after my appointment to grab a treat and this macaron did not disappoint! It was huge and seriously the best one I've ever had.

IMG_9139.jpg

What I'm loving:
Spring manicures and candy -- both of which have been a regular occurrence in our design studio! My nail polish organization riser can be found here.

IMG_9102.jpg

What we've been up to:
I've been sticking to a regular running schedule and now I'm to the point where I look forward to my runs because they're easy again! Getting back into running after a break is always so humbling, but once you cross over that threshold, it's so enjoyable! Also, I'm still obsessed with this water bottle that my sister gave me for my birthday!

What I'm dreading:
Nothing at the moment!

IMG_9095.jpg

What I'm working on:
Still loving this Bible study that I'm doing long-distance with my bestie! She's cruising on it and I've been slacking the last few weeks, so I need to get cracking on it!

IMG_8892.jpg

What I'm excited about:
Some really great things that are on the horizon!

IMG_9099.jpg

What I'm watching / reading:
I've really been enjoying 911 on Fox, but the season finale was last week so now I'm in search of something new. As far as reading goes, I made it through another stack of books this month, and my book review will be up tomorrow morning!

What I'm listening to:
I just wrapped up the Dirty John podcast a week or so ago and it was pretty good! I'd recommend it if you're into "Dateline" type of true crime / mystery stories!

IMG_3460.jpg

What I'm wearing:
Still sporting the North Face jacket and winter boots thanks to some cold and sloppy weather that we've been having. I'm looking forward to April so I can switch over to my favorite pink Hunter boots!

What I'm doing this weekend:
Back-to-back Easter celebrations with the family -- we're heading to Andy's brother's on Saturday, and then Robertson Ranch on Easter Sunday.

IMG_9154.jpg

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Spring weather! We had a few nice days in March, but the majority of it was cold, damp, and gray each day. I've been pulling out some of my spring colored clothes and even though it's chilly, that seems to help me feel like there's hope for spring! My white jeans are here, and pale pink top is here. I'm counting down the days until it's nice out and my weekends are spent strolling through the tulip gardens at the arboretum!

What else is new:
Not much else, other than turning thirty!

What's Up Wednesday #8

I'm finally back today! February has been the busiest month we've had in awhile! I'm linking up today for What's Up Wednesday to look back at the month!

IMG_8755.jpg
IMG_8756.jpg

What we're eating this week:
Ever have one of those weeks where the items you choose for groceries just aren't cutting it for you? That's been me this week -- I've been trying to mix and match what we picked up last weekend, but it's just not doing it for me.

IMG_8772.jpg

What I'm reminiscing about:
These last few days of 45 degrees have me reminiscing of last spring -- bring on the warmer weather and sunshine! We had a crazy amount of snow last weekend (photo above is just as a blizzard was starting), but it seems to be slowly melting away thanks to these higher temps.

IMG_8778.jpg

What I'm loving:
Coffee dates with my auntie! I met up with her for a couple hours last weekend and it's always just so refreshing!

IMG_8759.jpg

What we've been up to:
We toured one house in the Parade of Homes last weekend because a blizzard started shortly after. This one had such a unique layout with so many great features!

What I'm dreading:
Nothing at the moment!

What I'm working on:
Per usual, lots of big projects at work!

What I'm excited about:
A new month tomorrow

IMG_8785.jpg

What I'm watching / reading:
Just started this book last night while we were waiting in the lobby for a meeting with our accountant -- I just love learning more about personality types!

IMG_8767.jpg

What I'm listening to:
Last Friday, a couple of the creatives and I were talking about music we used to listen to in high school -- it reminded me of a few of my favorite bands, so I broke out a new playlist during my run on Saturday.

What I'm wearing:
Jeans and sweaters -- I'm looking forward to picking up a few new tops for spring.

What I'm doing this weekend:
Relaxing! I have a huge stack of library books that I hope to make a dent in. We're also going on a date on Friday evening since it's been awhile since we've had a true one.

What I'm looking forward to next month:
My birthday and spring weather (hopefully!)

What else is new:
Still house hunting -- more on that later!
