Favorite Eyeshadow Palettes

I've got a roundup of my favorite eyeshadow palettes today -- I use these four palettes on the regular and love the hues! I have blue eyes and feel like these work really well for both my eye and skin color.

1. Naked Ultimate Basics // Urban Decay
Hands-down, this is my favorite palette! I love the collection of matte eyeshadows and it's so perfect for creating an everyday look. I tend to lean towards the browns in this collection, but once in awhile will add in the plum-colored hues for a pop of color! Also, this one is currently on sale for 50% off!

2. Naked2 // Urban Decay
This was my first Urban Decay palette and I purchased it using birthday money many years ago. I used to use this one daily, but then after trying the Naked Basics palette (listed below), I realized that I tend to lean more towards matte eyeshadows rather than shimmery ones. This one is great for special occasion makeup -- I love using it for holidays and events since all of the colors have a pretty sheen to them!

3. Naked Basics // Urban Decay
This is the PERFECT mini palette for tossing in your purse, gym bag, or carry-on! These matte neutrals can be mixed and matched for an easy every day look or for a dramatic smokey eye.

4. Warm Neutral Palette // MAC
This palette was recommended to me a few years ago when I scheduled a makeup consult at the MAC store at the Mall of America. I was a little hesitant about all of the rosy hues, but I ended up using those up way faster than the browns and golds! Will definitely purchase this one again in the near future since my favorite colors are almost all used up.

Also, I love to use this eyeshadow primer before applying any eyeshadows -- it keeps things crease-free all day, even in the summer humidity!

P.S. Old Navy's athletic wear is currently 50% off (ends today). I scooped up a pair of these shorts (in black), this tank (in seafoam and and in black), and this tank (in both pocket full of posy  and winter plum).

My Favorite Beauty Items

Last month, one of my goals was to find a new foundation that I loved. While picking up a few new beauty items last month, I stopped by the beauty counter and had a consult with one of the girls there. She introduced me to a few new products and I have been enjoying them greatly -- much more than my foundation lineup in months past.

Today I'm sharing a handful of my favorite beauty items that I use daily! I like to keep my makeup routine fairly simple but also like a little more glam than just foundation and mascara. Here's what I've tried and has worked best for me:

BeautyProducts.jpg

Shape Tape // Tarte
I LOVE this concealer so much -- it goes on as a creamy liquid, making it easy to blend. Hands down my favorite concealer that I've ever tried. I use the "light" color.

Eyeshadow Primer Potion // Urban Decay
This primer potion is a lifesaver -- my eyelids get oily by the end of the day, causing my eyeliner and eyeshadow to smear and crease. Ever since I discovered this product a few years ago, I've never looked back. I've always bought the "original" color, but they also have shimmery and anti-aging varieties as well.

Even Beter Foundation // Clinique
My skin has a slight yellow tone to it, and I feel like this foundation matches much better than those that I've tried in the past. It goes on smoothly and is fragrance free, which is definitely a plus for my sensitive skin. I use the "cream chamois" shade.

No-Tug Gel Eyeliner // IT Cosmetics
I've been using this eyeliner for years and although I've tried a few others, I keep going back to this because it goes on so smoothly and is so well-pigmented. I always go with a true black color for eyeliner.

Warm Neutrals Palette // MAC
This palette is everything -- I use it for eyeshadow, highlighter, blush, and sometimes bronzer if I'm out of my usual bronzer. It's easy to create an everyday or an evening look using this warm-hued palette!

Sponge // Beauty Blender
I switched over to a Beauty Blender this fall and have found that I really prefer it to using a brush. I just get it slightly damp before applying foundation and concealer and it helps to blend everything together really well without leaving any lines.

Short Hair Squad

I've been back to the short bob for almost 6 months now and am still obsessed with this sassy 'do! Since my hair is so thick and fine-textured, it takes a little help to get it to style how I'd like it to. The items below are what make the magic happen!

As far as styling tools go, I use this hairdryer and I've been a huge fan of this flatiron -- I purchased it back in 2013 and it's still going strong! I don't really use curling irons / wands anymore now that my hair is short -- if I have waves or curls, it's done using my flatiron.

1. Nutritive Nectar Thermique // Kérastase
My stylist recommended this product to me -- especially since I use heat on my hair every morning (hairdryer and flatiron). After combing through my freshly washed hair, I rub a dime-sized amount of this product throughout my hair.

2. Sea Salt Spray // Not Your Mother's
Next, I spray this sea salt spray all over my hair to give it a little texture.

3. Root Pump Plus // Big Sexy Hair
This is my favorite mousse of all time -- I just work a generous dollop of it into the roots of my hair before drying it.

4. Texturizing Dry Shampoo // Not Your Mother's
After drying my hair, I'll flat iron it to get it styled how I want -- then I add this texturizing dry shampoo to my roots to give it a little more volume / texture.

5. brilliant™ Humectant Pomade // Aveda
In the winter, my hair gets staticky, so just a dot of this pomade on my palms does wonders for taming the fly-aways. This product is also a dream in the summer if you live in a humid climate.

6. Spray & Play™ // Big Sexy Hair
This hairspray is perfect for spraying everything down because it holds things in place but still allows movement so your hair doesn't look stiff.

7. Spray & Stay™ // Big Sexy Hair
I use this stronger hold hairspray for teasing sections of my hair or if I need to hold a partial updo in place.

Back-to-Back Date Nights

This past weekend was spent celebrating our anniversary!

Six years ago yesterday, we got married!

We've been through a lot together and have grown, laughed, and shared so much over the nine and a half years we've been together. I'll have a wedding recap post this week, so stay tuned!

Speaking of weddings, my bestie just received her wedding photos this last week and it has been so fun looking back and reminiscing about her special day! Since we're all from different states, we talked about doing a bridesmaids reunion sometime in a next few years and I'm really hoping we can make this happen! The wedding weekend spent with Allie and the bridesmaids was one that I will always cherish -- such a great group of girls in that photo above!

On Saturday, I woke up early and hit Target for a few groceries before coming home to grab a quick lunch and head to the gym for a shoulders + triceps and cardio workout.

Afterwards, I showered and got ready before swinging by our gym's cafe for my favorite shake. Ordering this shake immediately reminded me to reorder a bag of mocha java powder online so I can make these shakes at home! It's just half a scoop of the mocha mix, one scoop of vanilla protein, ice, and unsweetened almond milk. IT'S SO GOOD.

I had a pedicure scheduled at 2pm, so I headed down the hall to the LifeSpa for my appointment. It felt so good to relax, read my book, and sip my shake while getting my toes done! I almost always choose a light pink whenever I get a pedicure -- I just love the neutral look.

By the time I left the club, it was raining pretty hard -- I drove to another location of Life Time (which is literally 6 minutes away) for my hair appointment with Krista! It was definitely an afternoon of pampering and it was much needed! I got my sassy little bob all cleaned up and she styled my hair in fun little 'do for my date night with Andy!

Upon arriving home, I quickly changed clothes and we headed back out in the rain for our dinner date!

We decided to go to BLVD and it did not disappoint! I loved the atmosphere, service, and menu! Such a unique place that we plan to visit again!

By the time we left, it was a total downpour outside! We huddled under our umbrella as we dashed out to our car -- laughing because we were still getting wet due to the parking lot having huge puddles all over. We decided to swing by the mall on the way home to walk around for a bit before heading back.

Side note, B&BW has a few of their Christmas candles out already and we were more than happy to make a pitstop to check them out! They all smell SO good, but I think this one and this one were my favorites.

On Sunday morning, I was up before the sun and worked on some blog posts while sipping coffee and enjoying some homemade apple cinnamon oatmeal. I also did some research on essential oils and ordered a few new ones to add to my collection.

Later on, after some laundry, cleaning up, and meal prep for the week, I headed out for a walk. I think we've officially reached the point in the season where gloves are a necessity for walking outside! My hands were SO cold by the time I arrived home! The leaves on the trail were spectacular and it felt so good to get some fresh air while listening to an audiobook on my walk.

Later that afternoon, we exchanged cards and gifts for our anniversary and then headed downtown for dinner! I'm excited to see what this next year of marriage brings -- it's hard to believe it's already been six years!

I'm heading out for a dental cleaning and then am off to work for the day. I'm grabbing dinner with my auntie tonight and I'm really looking forward to catching up with her. Hope your Monday is off to a great start!

What's In My Bag

I'm linking up today to share what's inside of my purse! When I dumped out my bag onto the rug, this is what I found (after tossing a few receipts and candy wrappers, let's be honest). These are my essential items when I'm running around -- my work bag contains additional items such as markers, a highlighter, a MacBook Pro, sketchbook, etc.

A Book -- This is the book that my small group will be using for our fall session

Simplified Planner -- The best planner ever! My 2018 version should be delivered this afternoon! I also have a Sharpie Pen, which are my favorite pens to use in my SP!

Fossil Wallet -- This wallet holds my ID, credit cards, gift cards, insurance cards, and membership cards to places such as Costco and the arboretum. I'd love to move to a smaller wallet this year since I don't have much in my wallet and never carry cash or checks.

Beauty Products -- A comb to re-tease my hair if it goes flat, sunglasses + sunglasses cleaner, my favorite lip gloss, lip crayon (shade is Pink Lagoon), lip balm, and a Panaway essential oils roller.

Snacks -- I almost always have some sort of snack / bar on me due to having minor episodes of hypoglycemia. That little gold pouch is filled with Starbursts for that very reason. I also like to have organic mints on me, too!

iPhone Accessories -- I always carry an iPhone charging cord and a pair of headphones. (I keep my wireless headphones in my gym bag).
